The Eiffel Tower

The  Eiffel Tower was the major attraction at the 1889 Paris World Exposition. It became a major tourist attraction and generated an emerging demand for souvenirs especially for illustrated postcards. This presentation shows the way the Eiffel Tower Company provided postcards for tourists to record their visit and tell friends and relatives.

54 frames of thematic, open and postcards displays, ranging from one to five frames, will be on display. You do not have to be a member of the Royal to attend this event.

Alphonse Mucha, the renowned Czech artist, has left an indelible mark on the world of the visual arts and a profound impact on the Art Nouveau movement. Born on July 24, 1860 in IvanĨice, Moravia (now in the Czech Republic), the story of Mucha’s journey from humble beginnings to international acclaim, and his profound impact on the new country of Czechoslovakia in terms of stamps, currency and cultural legacy, is told using various images, stamps, and covers. This presentation tells the story of Mucha’s life and the evolution of his artwork and style, and the legacy he has left behind.
